NEACOF (JJAS 2024) - Rainfall - Chart Description

In JJA, many countries in NEACOF will be at harvest (Azerbaijan) or  mid-season (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia , Ukraine) season for the corn crop.

For wheat crop at harvest stage, below normal precipitation may result in water deficit which can result in reduced grain weight. Hot, dry and strong wind in combination with a water deficit during this period causes shriveling of grain.

For wheat crop at mid-term stage, above normal precipitation  can lead to yield losses from disease and root problems.
