SASCOF (OND 2023) Rainfall - Chart Description
In OND, many countries in SASCOF will be at harvest (Afghanistan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan) and planting (Sri Lanka) season for the rice crop.
For rice crop at harvest stage, above normal precipitation may negatively affect crop harvest process as it is much easier to pick the crop close the ground which is optimal when the soil is fairly dry.
For rice crop at planting stage, below normal precipitation may delay rice planting or increase irrigation water demand.

For corn crop at planting stage, above normal precipitation causing soil to become cool and wet can expose the corn seed to high stress.
For corn crop at harvest stage, above normal precipitation during the maturity and harvesting period may cause negative impact on maintaining grain quality.
